The Haltcliffe Swaledale Sheep Flock is based on three of the top flocks in the Swaledale sheep breeders association. After loosing the flock in 2001, it was decided to built the new Swaledale Sheep flock from the best possible blood lines, so ewes where purchased from George and Paul Harker from Punchard also 15 of the best Swaledale ewes from Tom Robinson from Catlow in 2001. And the next year 2002 10 more of the best Catlow ewes and the top pen of draft ewes from Robert Thornborrow from West Stonesdale.
In 2001 two Swaledale rams where also purchased form Punchard, the first Punchard Dent 1st B29738 a B1 test by Jubilee Invader, he has been used five times and has bred a lot of great ewes and we have sold rams by him up to £5000, the other one Punchard Valley 7th B29739 an A testing ram he is by the Valley Farm ram and again has left a lot of good Swaledale ewes and we have sold Rams by him up to £6500. He was used in the Swaledale Sheep flock four times. In 2004 the new ram to come to the flock was Valley Quattro A23222 an A testing ram by Jubilee legend. The new Ram in 2005 is the best ram yet to come to the flock Mossdale Crisp C31121 again an A testing ram and a son of the £35,000 Catlow E.E.M.3rd and out of a ewe by the Clive Owen Ram. Each year Genotype Rams are available for sale both at the mart and at home, also about 140 ewes and 50 ewe lambs are sold, come and see us and select your Swaledale Sheep breeding stock.
