The Ridley family have been breeding pedigree livestock on their hill farm on the Northern edge of the beautiful English Lake District for more than thirty years. Haltcliffe Swaledale and Blue Faced Leicester sheep were the First pedigree breeds followed by the Haltcliffe Limousin and Charolais herds, with the Haltcliffe Texel sheep flock being establied in 1990. The Haltcliffe Limousin herd was founded in 1979 and has been at the forefront of UK Limousin breeding since that time. Bulls bred on the farm include Haltcliffe Pirate, the first UK bred Limousin bull sold to Genus. Haltcliffe Rembrandt, Aristocrat, Eros, Flashman and Hercules all having a great affect on the UK Limousin breed. With many more Haltcliffe bred Bulls and Rams doing a great job all over the U.K. With the 2001 FMD crisis in the UK all Haltcliffe herds and flocks where lost and the family had to start again.

Haltcliffe is now the home of the Haltcliffe herds of Limousin and Charolais cattle and the Haltcliffe flocks of Texel and Swaledale sheep, all est. in late 2001.The Limousin herd is of 80 breeding cows with 20 cows in the Charolais herd. The Texel sheep flock has 120 ewes, with 300 ewes in the Hill flock of Swaledales. We are in the business of breeding top quality Bulls and Heifers, Rams and Ewes for the home market and for export. Semen and embryo’s are also available. Haltcliffe is only 2 hours from Manchester Airport and only 11 miles from junction 41 the M6 motorway, all classes of top quality accommodation is available locally.
